MOR Swims to 2nd place at State Age Group Championships!

MOR Swims to 2nd place at State Age Group Championships!
 
Charlotte, NCThe Marlins Of Raleigh-Wolfpack Aquatics (MOR) swam to 2nd place at the NC Age Group Swimming Championships for the 3rd consecutive year behind host Mac.  MOR was the highest scoring team from the Triangle Area.  The meet was held at the Mecklenburg Aquatic Center July 15-18 and included the top 750 14-Under swimmers in North Carolina.

    MOR swimmers broke 1 State Record, won 15 individual events, 1 relay, 1 High Point Award and placed 4 swimmers out of 28 on the North Carolina Zone All-Star Team which will compete July 27-31 at the Ga. Tech Olympic Pool.
    "This was truly a team effort as 35 of our 58 swimmers scored in individual events and another 19 scored points on relays so almost everyone at the meet contributed!  We also had some real quality swims with 15 victories and a state record.  Our swimmers and coaches have been pointing towards this State Championship and it was a great to see the goal setting and hard work pay off."  Said MOR head Coach Paul Silver.
    The 4 swimmers who were chosen for the NC Zone All-Star Team were 11-12's Will  Countie, Justin Ress, and Tyler Silver.  Kelsey Lawton was selected  in the 13-14 age group to compete for NC against 11 other states and the top age group swimmers in the entire Southern United States.
    Tyler Silver won the 11-12 Boys High Point Award with his 8 victories that included him breaking his own State Record in the 50 Fly with a time of 28.22.  Meagan Johnson won the 11-12 girls 200 Fly.  Grace Countie won the 10-Under 50 Free, 100 Free, 50 Bk, 100 Bk.  Scott Johnson won the 13-14 boys 50 Free.  Christopher Silver won the 10-Under 50 Fly.

MOR's Mitchell wins 1000 Free at Sr. Sectionals

MOR's  Mitchell wins 1000 Free at Sr. Sectionals!

Victoria Mitchell won the 1000 free at the 2010 Sr. Sectional Swim
Champs in Nashville.  Mitchell's time of 9:51.88 was 13 seconds ahead
of 2nd place.  It also qualifies Mitchell for this summer's US National
Championships
in Irvine, Ca.  MOR currently sits in 5th place.

NASHVILLE, Tennessee, March 4. THE first night of short course yard swimming at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Nashville put distance events in the spotlight.

Marlins of Raleigh's Victoria Mitchell, 17, captured the women's 100 free in 9:51.88, while Dynamo's Sarah Williford, 16, took second in 10:04.80. GCAT's Erika Wozniak, 16, finished third overall in 10:05.49.

Pilot's Evan Pinion, 15, snagged the men's 1000 free in 9:03.71, while Nashville's Dakota Hodgson touched second in 9:04.20. New South's Brett Boston wound up third in 9:18.70.
 


Dynamo swept the relay events for the night. The team of Taylor Schick, Nicole Stafford, Haley Durmer and Williford won the women's 800 free relay in 7:27.38. Meanwhile, the quartet of Matias Koski, Jack Lane, Allen Browning and Elliott Brockelbank took home the men's 800 free relay crown in 6:44.64.

MOR's Mitchell Qualifies for Sr. Nationals at Sr. Sectional Meet !

Athens, Ga.:Victoria Mitchell of the Marlins Of Raleigh-Wolfpack Aquatics (MOR) swam at 2:18.75 in the 200 Meter Backstroke at the Southeastern Sr. Sectional Championships held at the U. of Georgia Aquatic Center July 15-18.  Mitchell finished in 7th place in the event and it qualified her for this summer's USA Swimming Sr. Nationals to be held in Irvine, Ca. Aug. 3-7.  The Sr. Sectionals included over 350 swimmers including Olympic Gold Medalist, Ceasar Cielo.  MOR finished in 11th place at the meet with 182 points.
